Communication is the backbone to any great relationship. When all sides are able to express their true feelings in an honest and genuine way will communication truly work. Communication is a two way street which needs both sides in order to exist.
A conversation involves two parts... talking and listening. Most people find only have that to be true. Most people are good at talking and speaking their minds but few take the time and effort to actively listen. Often times people spend most of their time and energy trying to remember what to say or formulate which point they want to get across instead of just listening to the ideas or concerns of the other people involved. Listening involves more than hearing, it requires understanding what the person is saying.
Communication solves most problems. When done right, it replaces assumptions and speculation with fact and rationale. It bring peace of mind and settles uncertainty.
It's important to be able to express how you feel. That's an important aspect in personal growth and discovering your own personal value, but being able to listen to other people is just as important. Everyone has problems and concerns, be there for others when they need someone to talk to. When all is said and done, people need people. Don't shy away from a friend in need, instead seek out and let them know you are there when needed.
Life is not a dress rehearsal but it's the real thing. Mistakes will be made and feeling will get hurt. Communicate, understand, and accept... and never forget to keep smiling.
