The older I got the more I realized that overcoming shyness simply wasn't going to happen without a little work. I began to understand it as a problem and started to tackle it. I started by observing the behaviors of more outgoing people to learn what made them tick. I found the results surprising.
Not having a ton of money growing up, I was envious of those who did have money. In a way I thought that money made the man. Since we didn't have a lot, I thought that was maybe why I couldn't muster any confidence? Then I realized this wasn't the case at all. Happiness doesn't come from the clothes you wear... happiness simply comes from inside of you. You are simply as happy as you want and allow yourself to be.
It's not the clothes you wear or the things you surround yourself with that lead to happiness... it's your core and the person you are that gives you confidence. I knew I had a lot to learn.
